The games and videos found here integrate chemistry and science concepts in a fun and engaging way. Each game and video has been created to achieve a specific set of learning outcomes, delivering a final objective through a stepwise process that builds learner knowledge and confidence.
My name is Norbac Graphein. I am a Chemical Engineer with more than twenty years experience. I have worked in industry on production sites across the world and I have taught at numerous universities, both undergrad and postgrad. I have a family with two young children, both just starting school.
As a kid, I used to watch tons of Star Trek. I found the science fiction and visual effects very engaging. In some ways, it inspired me to pursue a career in science. I always wondered why we never have such engaging visuals and stories in real science, which most consider quite boring. In fact, why couldn’t a show like Star Trek teach real science instead of science fiction! I have observed my children engage with gaming at an amazing learning rate. They overcome complex obstacles and learn to use new tools on an almost daily basis. Unfortunately, the “crafting” skills they learn are limited to the game, but it doesn’t have to be this way.
One day, it occurred to me, why not combine visuals and real science to create a game that teaches chemistry, thereby creating a link between in-game knowledge and real-world “crafting” of chemicals? This site and the content are my attempt to make this a reality.
